Single-click acts like Double-click

I've recently noticed that when I single click on files & icons, etc to
select them, it executes them. For instance, when I select a folder by
single-clicking on it in Explorer to move it, it opens. Another example is
when I select a program shortcut on the desktop by single-clicking it, the
program is launched.

I've checked the mouse settings and double-click is required to execute. So,
what's going on? Thanks. BTW, I'm running XP Pro SP2 w/ a Dell bluetooth
mouse.

When you say you checked mouse action was that in folder options, General
tab?
You could also try slowing down the double click action (if using
inteelipoinr, control panel, Mouse applet, Activities tab.

The double click action speed is low.

I guess it may be a hardware failure. I'll try a different mouse.

Look in: Control Panel/Folder Options and under "Click items as follows"
check the box for "Double-click to open an item"

I would first suggest double checking your mouse's settings under the control
panel applet, and possibly slowing the double click setting down. If the
problem still persists it could be a problem with your mouse's drivers, try
updating them.
