sims makin magic installation problems

hi i am having problems with the sims makin magic expansion pack it gets to about 95% through the installation then an error message pops up saying there a problem with the expansion shared directories, something about the sound.far file. The thing is i had already played on the game so i know it works, but it started switching it self off, i had added some downloads today so thats the only thing i could think of that would cause the problems. but why won't it reinstall. could any one offer any ideas on how to fix this cos i am now going cold turkey. help me please. it also says something about a cyclic redundancy error

I faced the exact same problem

To solve it try to find someone with Sims Makin' Magic installed and copy their sound.far file onto your PC and then run

the installer and the problem should be solved.
