Signature Update

M

Mike

I am configured to get new signatures automatically but
they still date from January 7th.
If I perform a manual update it says I am up to date but I
know there are later signatures released.
I have no firewall.

You need a firewall. Are you behind a nat/router?

If you go to Help, about--what is the version number of the definitions
shown there?

M

Mike

Yes behind NAT/router.
Version in help about is same.
Spyware Definition Version: 5685 (01/07/2005 2:26:11 PM)
Router D-Link DI-604
Cannot send report either Get error about proxy server
which I don't have configured.

Here's what I would try next:

There is a new build--509, available at http://www.microsoft.com/spyware

Download and install the new build. It will upgrade your current build, and
in the process update the definitions to 5687, according to the download
page. You can then see whether you are able, with the new code, to update
to 5689.

I did an upgrade to build 509. Signature stayed at January
7th.
I did add/remove programs then reinstalled 509.
Signature stayed January 7th.
I tried an update signature, stayed January 7th.
Help about shows build 509 and signature January 7th.

Weird isn't it??????

Bill Sanderson,
I had to add/remove programs then manually delete Program
Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware and now my signatures are up
to date. I'll keep an eye out for a new signature and see
if I get an auto update or not.
Mine at home was broken but at work was fine.
Only difference that I can tell is that at hoem I had 3
auto-ignores for Edonkey enabled.

Glad to hear it. Current signatures are at 5691, as of some time today.

Please try both file, check for updates, and start, all programs, Microsoft
Antispyware Update and see whether either works. It is best to specify the
level of the updates by the number, rather than the date--you can see the
number by going to Help, about.
