Shuts down when "RPC" Remote Procedure Call Terminates

I have a ZPOS system from Cam Commerce Solutions. I've
only had it about 6 weeks. It continually shuts down
because the RPC or Remote Procedure Call terminates
unexpectedly. How can I stop this from happening? It
makes it hard to run a retail business and assist
customers when my computer is shutting down all the time.

Hi Cecily,

If it's an RPC Shutdown initiated by NT Authority, then it's most likely due
to the MSBlaster worm or the Welchia worm.

Have a look here for information about the Blaster worm and its variants:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp

And here is information about the Welchia worm:

You need to d/load and install Security patch KB824146, available here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=824146#WinXP

Also, d/load and run the Blaster and Welchia worm removal tool:

What do we do when we don't know something?! That's right, we STFW. This is
an FAQ, it's asked almost hourly (or at least every 2 hours). Please don't
be so lazy!
