It is considered impolite (shouting) to post in all caps.

What you want to do is extremely possible, to a certain extent, with a
standard laptop but not with a standard desktop computer.

For the laptop you connect and turn on the projector to the VGA output on
the laptop and enable the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor
(right click a blank area on the desktop. Click Properties. Click Settings
and then the big 2 that shows up. The Extend button is below the 2 when you
click on it.

Once that is done use the PowerPoint (PPT) feature "Show Presenter View" to
push the PowerPoint slides to the projector and use the PowerPoint Presenter
View on the laptop which displays a representation of the slide and any
notes you have put into the PPT file. To enable, start PPT and open your
presentation. On PPT 2003 or earlier Click Slide Show then click Set Up
Show (for PPT 2007 click on Slide Show tab then Set Up Slide Show Icon.) In
the lower part of the window is a button to enable Show Presenter View.
Once you have enabled this you need to save the file again or the setting
won't stick for when you present it later. You may also have to change the
setting for Display Slide Show On to make it go to the correct monitor.

The reason a standard desktop can't do it is that unless you have two video
cards or a dual head video card you can't display to two independent places.

Now for the "to a certain extent" from above. If you desire to have a
different picture on the monitor than the one showing on the projector, this
is not possible with PPT because when you go to the presenter view both
screens are maximized and you can't have any other program sitting on the
"monitor" side by side with the PPT presenter view. Other programs can be
running in the background but as soon as you click on the next slide, PPT
presenter view takes over the full screen again.

Hope this helps, let us know.
