We just installed a number of windows updates and at
reboot, when selecting a user profile to logon to, we get
    the error message:

Explorer.exec Unable to Locate Component - The
application has failed to start because SHDOCVW.dll was
not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this.

after clicking OK we get a single blue screen and cannot
    do anything with the computer.

    any insight would be helpful.
