Shared Music's name changed to My Music

Has anyone else had the problem of the Shared Music
folder being renamed to My Music?

Now that's fine if it's always called My Music for the
All Users user account but when I first install Windows
XP and go to Shared Documents the music folder in there
is called Shared Music. Then something changes it to My
Music. Now in the Shared Documents folder I have folders
that say Shared ... and one My Music.

It's also a little confusing if you go to My Music from
the Start button. On the navigational bar on the left
under Other Places, My Music is there (which is really
Shared Music).

So does anyone know how to change that?

My Music is XP's default file for MP3s, music files.
You can change the setup if you want them to go
somewheres else.

If I tell Windows Media Player to monitor the folder for
the All Users (Shared) default music folder, the name
changes to My Music instead of Shared Music. (I'm not
absolutely positive that that is when the name change
happens.) I know that you can put the music files
somewhere else or have Media Player monitor the files in
other folders as well. I'm trying to find out how I can
get C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Music
renamed or at least show up how it was originally "Shared
Music".

Jared, you're right, under All users Shared documents are listed as Shared Music and Shared Pictures by default. If yours are no longer identified as that, you
should be able to rename them using Windows Explorer rightclicking and rename.

If I try to rename the folder that way, I get the
following error message:

My Music is a Windows system folder and is required for
Windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or renamed.

Jared, I've had a similar problem a few months ago. Try this to correct it.
Create a folder using Windows Explorer (click File/New/Folder) and name it
Shared Music and put it under the Shared Documents Directory, also a Shared Pictures if you like. Reboot your PC and then delete the My Music directory, hope this works.
