shadow copies were aborted because of an IO failure - advices?

Please an advice!

In the last days 4 times I got the event
The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because of an IO failure on
volume C:.

I run chkdsk on system start
and inserted the log in German language
from my bilingual Vista Ultimate Version 6.0.6000 Build 6000

Now I looked in the System Windows Log in focus of the time, when the abort
event occurred first:
at
30.01.2008 09:31:51
and
30.01.2008 09:33:54 I found the entries:
The oldest shadow copy of volume C: was deleted to keep disk space usage for
shadow copies of volume C: below the user defined limit.

And shortly after at
30.01.2008 09:38:11 occurred
The shadow copies of volume C: were aborted because of an IO failure on
volume C:.

So I think it is rather a file system problem than a hardware problem.
After chkdsk the events of aborted shadow copies continue.
Now I run defrag and hope on improvements

uninstall .NET Framework 1.1.
