Set Defaultdomainname setting in registry

I'm running into an issue where even though I have edited the registry to
specify a default domain. When I login to the local machine via the console
it changes the domain dropdown to the local machine. If I Logout of the local
machine and into the domain via the console it changes it back to domain in
terminal services as well. Any way to keep it from changing when logging
into the console?

No, not that I know off. The default value for Domain/Computer in the
logon dialog box is taken from the last logon that was used on the
console.

You can specify the default domain name in the registry at the following
registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\DefaultDomainName

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AltDefaultDomainName

Yes, but that value is overwritten as soon as you logon to the
physical console with a local account, as the original poster
already had found out.

I too have issues with this registry settings. In my case the server reboots every night with a scripted shutdown.exe. When the server boots, the default options is logon to local computer. This is a terminal-server so its quite annoying. For now I've made a GPO to try and fix it (http://www.windowsitpro.com/Articles/ArticleID/47055/47055.html). If someone else has run into this problem and has a solution its greatly appreciated.

If anyone else ran into this problem too, your feedback is wanted too.

Kind regards
boqs
