service pack 1 to service pack 4 upgrade - ping failed

I just installed win2000 service pack 4 on my laptop (with
wireless card) which came with win2000 professional and
service pack 1. Here were the problems occurred after the
installation of service pack 4:

1. My laptop could not ping the other window desktops on
the same LAN (home wired / wireless network with a router
and a access point). But my laptop could find the other
window desktops with "Search for computers" through My
Network Places.
2. My laptop could not access and configure the router
through wireless connection.
3. My laptop could not ping the router and the gateway.

Please advise.

Are you using the most recent drivers for all you NIC
cards?

I have not updated the driver since 2001.

It could be due to a driver incompatibility try updating
the drivers then install SP4.
