Server has "Not enough storage" when Mapping an External Dirve

I have a 400GB external HD (F:) connected to one of my two XP Pro machines.
They are networked thru a router.

When I try to map the F: drive (on first machine) on the second machine, I
get a too large for server error message.

The other drives on my first machine, including another external drive, map
just fine.

I don't have a clue about where the server is.

The F: is NTFS and compressed.

Is there a way to work around the error and access the drive from the other
machine?

Thanks,

Dennis

- Usually resolved by applying the latest Windows service pack
- Sometimes caused by NAV or IBM AV:

I checked and both machines are up to date with all the Microsoft updates.

I changed the external HD to the second unit, mapped it, and the first unit
accesses it just fine.
