send/receive button missing

The email account is no longer in outlook most likely. Also right click on
the toolbar and choose customize to verify it is selected to show.
If the above does not work, close outlook and do the following:

Start - run - and type outlook /cleanviews
AND
search and rename outcmd.dat

I have the same problem. Send/Receive went missing in summer 2004. OL2003
Pro, XP SP1, Norton. I can run a "test" which successfully sends the test
e-mail to the server. When I start OL2003 the Send/Receive button appears
breifly and disappears. Receive automatically does not happen either. Outbox
has e-mail in it but will not send. Attemempted all of below with no success
either. Send/Receive option not on tools "Customize..." menu either.

I tried this: Set up a new user login on my system. In this instance,
logging into Outlook 2003 DOES show the Send/Receive button and DOES send and
receive e-mail successfully to the same server account as my first login.
I'd really like to recover, though, on my first login or transfer all the
e-mails from my first login to my second login. I read a bug posting from MS,
August 2004, that outlines this problem as a software bug (no cure yet).

Can you tell me how to transfer all my old e-mails from one account to the
other as well as how to move my address book over?

This has gone on for months and even my local computer seller cannot figure
out how to correct the send/receive button problem.

Thanks for your help. Good to know others out there are suffering this and
getting around it one way or another.

I was able to highlight all of my email from my old account and copy it to my
new account. I had to move all self-defined personal folders myself. That
worked fine. I was finally able to get my address book moved by doing a
folder create, copy it to the old personal folders. Then go into the address
book, removing the empty contac tlist and adding the one I had moved under
the anme of contact1. I do't know if it was the correct way to do it by OL
2003 is once again sendign and receiving mail only a short time after an
unnamed person responded incorrectly to "restore all defaults?".
