Sometimes when I turn on my computer, my monitor display a message stating
"self test monitor ok check pc cable". Nothing else happens, it just
flash this message. My computer is on but this is the only thing displayed
on the monitor. I usually have to manually turn off my computer and try
again later. Help!

Have you checked the monitor cable? It is firmly seated at the connector?
Are all pins in the connector clean and straight?

Sounds like your computer sometimes doesn't post up to the BIOS. This
could indicate bad RAM, bad processor, bad motherboard, or a bad BIOS.

First I check the site of your motherboard manufacturer for an updated
BIOS, install that, and then test the RAM.

If your RAM checks out, and the BIOS flash doesn't work. Then I'd start
investigating the processor, mobo, and video card.

The monitor is plugged into a video card; unplug it from the computer.Do
you get the same message?
If the video card is bad would another monitor work.

I'd be curious how old is the computer... from what you said my first guess
would be...
some have a little bios batteries on the main motherboard and some have em
on the video card too that go bad and then the video card acts up because it
forgets who it is and the bios messes up because it forgets where to send
the video to and then the monitor is pretty dumb. I,dunno but it said
cable,, unplug/replug em all and then if that's not it I'd find the
fix for it real soon!
