Search folders, some good, some empy, some full of junk

Some folders are empty even though there is mail marked with a category
included in the folders criteria.

Another one looks good.

Another one has some correct messages but also many that do not match the
criteria (at least as far as I can see).

Are there any common errors in setting criteria?

Thanks for any tips.

True.

For example, the search folder Audubon has
search in "Personal Folders", browse shows "search subfolders" is checked
Messages, "Audubon" in subject line only
More, categories = Audubon

Fooling around with this, I see that the criteria are "anded" rather than
"or'd". If I take out the subject line requirement I get more messages in
the folder.

Is there a way to change this? If not, is it any better in OL 2007? If it
was "or'd", I could find a lot of messages, then add the categories if I
felt like it.

Another folder has criteria which are several rather peculiar words,
separated by commas, in the subject or message body (no other criteria such
as categories). Perhaps there are portions of the message body that are not
searched by "find" as I can't explain why some messages are put in the
folder. If it searched for commas, there would be even more wrong messages.
Perhaps it is not a "whole word" search; that would explain some bad hits.
If I take out the commas, I get no hits; again, we have the AND effect where
it is not wanted.

The online help is pretty useless...."Click Criteria, and select the options
you want, and then click OK. ". Is there a real description of how this
works?

Thanks,

John
