Hi guys,

Just thought i'd share with you my recent---and last experience with Scan

3 weeks ago I bought a mobo, cpu and 2 sticks of ram from scan. Ordered on the thursday, came on friday (To be honest the fast delivery is because of citylink, not scan!)

Anyway went to build up the system and the mobo wouldn't post. Called up scan did the usual with the technical support, and finally got an RMA number. They wanted everything back so they could pinpoint the problem themselves.

They picked it up on the monday, tested it on the tuesday and found a fault with the mobo and one stick of ram.

In the meantime I bought a 19" iilyama monitor which arrived the day after ordering. now just need the pc!

2 WEEKS later i was tired of seeing the online status not get dispatched so I called them and told them I needed the system for the weekend. Guess what? CHARGED ME AGAIN for saturday delivery. They said it was an excess otherwise I'd get it monday but you tell me what they've done with the stuff for the past two weeks???????

Item turned up this saturday, they appear to have tested the new mobo and ram as everything was preinstalled on the mobo......but they didn't bother putting the CPU spacer on. Cheers guys!

So i go to build it and guess what?? They've gone and left the CPU cooler off. Where is it? No idea.(it was a amdxp64 box set) So on the phone again, customer service to get tech support call me back. Did they?? Still no call.

Off down the shops to buy a new CPU cooler anyway.

Guess what, built the system, everything works BUT the goddamn monitor IS DOA! No lights NOTHING.

So now i've gotta mess around AGAIN to get an RMA and hope they don't fob me off saying the warrenty is with Iilyama cause they'l online do a swap service and give me a bloody refurb.

I'm starting to think that scan use B grade products cause this is unreal. NEVER in my entire PC building life have i had so many problems, and so many faults. Out of around 80 AMDXP64 systems i've built (Most using the same MSI mobo) i've never had a fault.

Until now.

I used to live in bolton so whenever anything was wrong you could just pop in, they'd test it there and then and replace as necessary.

But it's simply that they don't look after existing customers, only interested in new orders. To be fair nearly every business is after new customers but a little decency in looking after the old ones would do wonders.

UPDATE **************

Ok so after wasting over £20's worth on calls to scan i'm still no further.

I've moaned until i'm blue in the face about charging me for saturday delivery then sending me the CPU cooler the following tuesday and all they're willing to do is offer me £10 of my next purchase. BUT I'M NEVER GOING TO USE THEM AGAIN

And as for the monitor don't get me started.

I paid £107 for the monitor. Sent it BACK to scan for a refund because it was dead on arrivial and they're only offering to pay be £97 back. IE CHARGING ME FOR SHIPPING COSTS EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DEAD ON ARRIVAL.

This isn't the last they're gonna here and i've refused the refund. I'm on my way down to scans headquarters in Bolton this weekend...a nice 130 mile round trip from where I live...because i'm sick of getting no answers and this simply CRAP service.

I work for a large computer firm myself and everyone where I work can't believe it!

Scan?? should be more like SCAM if you ask me.

so first my order made on 11,11,2015
1 CORS 750W CP-9020015-UK Bronze
1 Intel Core i7 6700 s1151 3.4GH
1 2x8G CorsVengLPX Red DDR4-3000
1 Asus Z170 PRO GAMING Mobo
1 FOC ScanSure on Asus Motherboa
1 E Carriage
1 Auto. generated by E Orders

the order arrived i had allready taken out the older parts about 2 years old as i was upgrading
so any way got all the new parts in and powered up i could see from the side the fans where on with leds and the motherboard lit up
but the screen was not displaying saying no signal
so i powerd it down and checked every thing was right
it was all fine so i powered up again but the same no signal
so i tryed with dp and hdmi nothing
so i tryed on my other monitor with a dvi cable still nothing
i called scan i said there was a problem and explained the issue
so after some time they said they would email me an RMA number
you have to read the return print be shore to pack as stated
here is what was on the bottom of the RMA

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PARCEL TO A DROP OFF POINT WITHOUT HAVING RECIEVED THE UPS LABEL WHICH WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY BY UPS ONCE THE BOOKING IS MADE, FAILURE TO CARRY OUT THIS INSTRUCTION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF PROPERTY FOR WHICH SCAN WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE

done then waited a day for the ups label to come throw.
i then got them printed out and drove the car to the ups pickup point
that was it for some time i was thinking they would not get back to me so i called them to find out what was going on they then said they had tested it (why had they not let me know)
and faults where found with the motherboard and the ram
(im thinking dam im unlucky two faults)
so any way it was arranged to have them replaced and sent back out to me (im thinking ok not so bad i just got unlucky on some parts

so days later the items listed above arrived
so i had to take out my parts as i needed you use the pc
then put all the new parts from scan back in
powered up and would you belleve it same again
no signal this was tested full setup to start
then i tested in every way i could i did 24 pin and 8 pin and the monitor direct in the motherboard to remove the chance that my gtx 970 was the problem even tho it work just hours before on my old parts
but the gtx 970 was fine
so still no signal from the monitors

so here we go again called the scan tech team waiting about 10 min even tho i was listed 1st in the queue each time

spent 30 min sorting out the RMA again
then waiting for the ups labels to be emailed more than 24 hours
packed it all up nice and and sent it off
so days later i found out they listed it as no faults found
(getting mad now)
so i called up again i don,t remember the guys name now but he said he was the tech manager
i gave him the RMA number and he read of what had been mailed to me there was then a long blunt chat from the tech manager with him saying i did not know what i was doing
allso saying i had damaged the first return my self
so this was going no where go so i said i would just like a refund
he said i could not get a refund and i would allso have to pay to have the parts i had sent back to them
to have them sent to me
(what is going on he wants me to pay them to return part that don,t work)
i said i would not pay and i wanted a refund
he said if i did not pay for the return i would not get a refund and they would depose of my parts
i know that i am legal intitled to a refund and i have sent them the info of the law on this matter i will allso list the site and the part that stats this
https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds

Accepting returns and giving refunds: the law
Online, mail and phone order sales
Online, mail and telephone order customers have the right to cancel their order for a limited time even if the goods aren’t faulty. Sales of this kind are known as ‘distance selling’.

You must offer a refund to customers if they’ve told you within 14 days of receiving their goods that they want to cancel. They have another 14 days to return the goods once they’ve told you.

You must refund the customer within 14 days of receiving the goods back. They don’t have to provide a reason.

FWIW I had a couple of horrible experiences with Scan, including being accused of returning non-original goods for an RMA.

So, despite their prices being competitive, me getting free postage as I'm a member of a Forum that Scan are allied to and their range of products being fair, I haven't touched them with a barge pole for some years now and nor will I do so again.

They mess me about, they mugged themselves.

OCUK, on the other hand, have more than redeemed themselves from their past couple of minor misdemeanours and despite their prices being not the most competitive I've been using them for the past couple of years and they have been excellent.
