saving older excel version fils

I have Excel 2007 and when I open a file from an older verion of Excel and
want to close it, it always prompts me to save it in the new 2007 format.
Is there a way to turn that prompt off?

Jim,

Click the Office button, select "Excel Options" then click the Save category, and choose the default
save as format in the
drop down at the top of the dialog. But note that this will apply to all files....
