Things have been going from bad to worse for Samsung. Shortly following the launch of their new 'phablet', the Galaxy Note 7, reports started to come in of exploding batteries. When it became apparent that these were not isolated incidents, Samsung issued a product recall and offered customers a replacement handset. However, it appears that these replacements also feature defective batteries, and consequently Samsung has now announced that they will be pausing production of the Galaxy Note 7. It has been suggested that the issues do not relate to just the battery; more components may also be at fault. Furthermore, two companies in the USA are now refusing to replace existing handsets, and one retailer is no longer offering the device for sale.

The whole situation is proving very costly for Samsung, both in terms of monetary cost and reputation, so time will tell how much the company will suffer as a result of this embarrassing failure.

I'm not surprised!

It would be pretty odd if they allowed you to take on board a device that is known to explode, but prevent you from taking more than 100ml of liquid in a bottle...

As per the other thread:

"We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.

We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available."
