hi Folks,

just upgraded XP pro; firewall tells me that ".Net Runtime Optimization
service is trying to access internet".

can anyone comment on exactly what information this is passing to microsoft,
and what microsoft is doing with such info?

thanks ...

(also: will denying this access cripple my OS?)

Allowing the .NET Optimization Service to check for revoked certs is
safe. Unchecking the above setting *will* lower overall system security.

Unless the system is experiencing a *serious* performance issue because
of Cert Revocation checks, then it's unwise to disable it.

Under 'Certificate Status Checking Details', see the section titled
'Certificate Revocation Process' -
