Safe Mode: Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys

J

ju.c

When I start up in Safe Mode I get this message:

"Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys"
http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads/faq

How can I make it so that Safe Mode does not even
try to load SPTD.sys?

I don't want to disable the service on a normal
start, just on a Safe Mode boot.

Thanks.

What service?

Do you have DaemonTools installed? If so, use its system tray icon to
disable its auto-start feature from Normal Mode before you try booting to
Safe Mode.

If you don't know, don't post.

That's the attitude! Guaranteed to get you help!

If you don't know how to converse politely with people trying to help you,
don't post.

In your arrogance, you didn't bother answering whether you have DaemonTools
installed or not. Maybe that is because you somehow know it's not the cause
(which you should say) or you don't know how to find out if it's installed.
In which latter case, don't bother asking because -

[What's so hard about just pressing "ESC to cancel" anyway?]

Why do I attract all the fools?
"Here You can see that spdt.sys is really part of Daemon Tools:"
I wrote the SPTD manufacturer's FAQ page for anyone who thought
I might not know.
http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads/faq
I already know what SPTD is:
""Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys"
http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads/faq"
I asked how to stop a service from loading during Safe Mode boot.
What difference does it make what service?

So I asked:
"How can I make it so that Safe Mode does not even try to load SPTD.sys?
I don't want to disable the service on a normal start, just on a Safe Mode boot."

And I get help about the SPTD process?

A pointer (those that know what I'm talking about will know the answer):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal]

You mistake my answer as rude, when that was not my intent. Sorry for that.

"I don't want to disable the service on a normal start, just on a Safe Mode boot."

What does it matter what service? Blocking SPTD is an example.

You are rude, and seem to be unable to ask for help.
Maybe your should pay someone to both fix your problem and put up with you.
Some people just don't know how to ask for help, and you are one of them.

them.or]

As a first-time visitor to this site from what I've read it is
apparent that YOU people are the ones who are being rude. I created
an account just to give my opinion. He/she was simply asking how to
disable SPTD.SYS. It does not matter what service it is associated
with. Several of you then jumped down his throat for no reason.

You people are pathetic. If you do not want to offer help then just
do not click on the reply button. You are fortunate that I had not
logged in here and asked a similar question. My response would not
have been anywhere near as kind as ju.c.

Save the bandwidth on any replies to this message. I will not be
logging back in to read them. I found the answer I was looking for
concerning SPTD.SYS on a more friendly forum.

Well said, regardless of whether he comes back to read this or not.
Microsoft's culture is alive and well even if the company isn't so
"well".
