Running a Server in WinXP

I am trying to run a server in windows XP with no luck. I
used to run one in ME without any problems. Since I have
switched to XP I can not access the server from outside my
home. From home computer I can access no problem, but if i
try to access remotely (from friends house/computer) I can
not get in. I have verified the server set up and accoutn
info (same as when i ran on ME). I have turned the
firewall off, I have verified there are no port conflicts,
problems, etc. No ports blocked.

Is there something in WinXP that needs to be done to allow
access to server? Any other suggestions or help is greatly
appreciated.

What kind of server are you trying to run and what software is being used?
