The attachement was saved several times during the review but the e-mail did
not get saved, is there any chance that it's saved somewhere?

A good lesson here: never edit attachments directly from the mail message.
Always save them to disk first.

There is a chance that the attachment is still available. When you open an
attachment, it first gets written to the "Outlook Secure Temp" folder, the
location of which is held in the registry. Here's a web site that will tell
you how to locate it: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/securetemp.htm .
Take the location from the registry and paste it into a Windows Explorer
address field. That will allow you tpo see the temp folder's contents and
move it, if it's there, to a less volatile, more easily found folder.
