Restricting Access to Programs in XP Home/Pro

RAMPAGER83

There are some programs on our PC that I would like to
make "unavailable" to certain accounts (like, QUICKEN does
not need to be accessable by the children).

They each have separate LIMITED accounts while my wife and
I have ADMINISTRATOR accounts.

Is there a way to restrict access to PROGRAMS as well as
FILES (I've seen how you restrict access to files).

Thanks!

Well, to restrict "programs", you really also restrict "files", since
programs are files ... Set the NTFS permissions of each of the executables
you want to eliminate the kids from having access to listing only
"administrator" level accounts in the permissions ... Look at the shortcut
(the icon), and then find that EXE file on your PC that the shortcut refers
to ... Right-click the file and choose Properties ... Go to the Security tab
of the window, and remove all but Administrators (or list your login and
your wife's) as having any rights ...

Hope this helps ...
