[REQ] mail client, allows you to embed multiple pics by drag and drop

I tried to embed multiple image files into a Thunderbird email, by dragging
the files from Windows Explorer (and other file managers). The pics were
numbered "dsc00001.jpg" through "dsc00007.jpg".

(You can't do this with OE or Eudora, I already tried ... you can embed only
one image at a time.)

Problem: no matter what I did, no matter what I tried, the files were always
inserted into Thunderbird mail in REVERSE ORDER ... e.g. dsc00007 through
dsc00001. I don't know if this is a Windows but or a Thunderbird bug.
Didn't get a reply on Mozilla forum.

Anybody know of a mail client that allows you to embed multiple pics by drag
and drop?

Have you tried selecting ...07.jpg first then shift select ...01.jpg
then drag & drop using ...01.jpg of selection?

or

Have you tried sorting in reverse order before doing a drag & drop?

Mel, I thought I had done all these things last night, but your suggestions
prompted me to do some experimenting. What I discovered is WEIRD.

It seems to matter (1) what order the files are sorted in; (2) the order in
which you select the files; AND (3) which file you click on to drag the
whole bunch over to Thunderbird.

Here's what seems to work, to get the files in 1-7 order in Thunderbird.

(1) Use Windows Explorer.
(2) Sort in 7 to 1 order.
(3) Select 7 first, then Shift-Select on 1.
(4) Click on 7 to drag all 7 files over to Thunderbird.

Result: files are embedded in Thunderbird email in 1-7 order.

Weird, weird, weird!!

Do you think this is a Thunderbird or a Windows thing?

I do alot of drag and drop in alot of different applications and I
rarely see a problem, so my guess is: it's a Thunderbird thing.

I bet you're right.

When I drag and drop as attachments, not embeds, files do seem to be
attached in the order in which they were sorted in Explorer.

Any ideas on other drag and drop operations I might try to test this out? I
tried Word, but I got an "out of memory" after pics 1 and 2 appeared. Tried
Open Office Write - dragged and dropped 1-7 into the file. They were all
put in a stack, in 7 on top, 1 on the bottom. This must means that means
they were inserted in 1-7 order. Without all the gymnastics that I had to
do to get this result in Thunderbird.

A windows thing in my view.

Highlight a bunch of images that you want to open in a viewer,
presumably they are an associated file type, and hit enter. The last
file in the list is always the first file opened. The rest of the
files seem to open in order from the first to the second last.

My experience is with Paint Shop Pro. YMMV.

The file that has focus (7) will be opened first, so if you want the
files to open in numerical order then you should give focus to (1)
before hitting enter.
