Replicating files

There is a folder on my drive ~ERASDPD.TMP. Files continue to add to this
folder without stop. Each file has this naming convention: 1bz3r4yd.r2b and
on and on. Each file is 41,280 kb. Occassionally a file with a .txt extension
will show up, but is unreadable. Deleting them only causes new files to
reappear in a few minutes. Erasing them also allows them to reappear. The
folder when discovered had over 3000 files.
System is WIN XP Home, running on a Sony Vaio Desktop. Programs running most
of the time are MS Office XP Pro Suite, (MS Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel,
Access). Virus scan with AVG shows no virus in the folder.

This problem appeared last year and then vanished, but has reappeared. It
absorbs disk space and greatly reduces system performance.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is probably caused by spyware/malware. Download & run
a spyware killer, e.g. AdAware.

Since a Google for ~ERASDPD.TMP (or other forms of the file name) didn't
bring up any hits, it is probably malware. Do the normal cleanup:
