Replacing a socket 478 w/ Socket T (775)

I need to replace my bad socket 478 motherboard with a new 775. Will
the heatsink used to cool my p4 3.2 cpu work on the socket T (775)
board?

Socket 478 and Socket 775 heat sinks use different mounting schemes.

Some third-party HSF heat sink/fan systems may have adapters that permit
them to be use with either, but the original equipment cooler won't be
transferable.

The cheap way to replace the heat sink would be to buy a retail Intel CPU,
which will include a HSF.

Do you hope to transfer your old RAM? Check whether it's compatible: older
Socket 478 boards used 184 pin DDR. (The oldest S. 478 boards I've seen used
SDRAM.) Recent S. 775 boards mostly use DDR2; the latest use DDR3.

Return address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

You need to know that a socket 478 porcessor would probably not work
in a socket T (775.) You would need a new processor and usually
buying a "retail" p775 processor should have a correct heatsink with
it.
