Repetitive Error in IUPDATE.EXE

My daughter's computer had Windows ME and I installed software to upgrade it
to Windows XP. Now, the computer gets constant error messages which say
that there is an error in IUPDATE.EXE. I uninstalled Internet explorer in
an attempt to eliminate this (she uses netscape) but that doesn't fix the
problems. If we leave the computer on overnight, there are multiple error
messages in the morning. I have run sophos, ad-aware and spybot-but this
does not eliminate the problem and in fact I think the computer had been
receiving these type of "invaders" with greater frequency. Is there any way
of eliminating this? I do not want to wipe out everything on the
harddrive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Uninstall and re-install/upgrade sophos antivirus. If there is a problem
removing sophos (particularly if the XP upgrade screwed sophos uninstall),
then contact them for support.
