Removing blur in digital camera pictures

Hi ,

I use HP Photosmart 735 (digital camera) at work .

Some of the pictures are blurred , after transferring
them from the camera to the computer (Windows XP).

I didn't find a way to remove the blur using MS Office
Picture Manager (there's AutoCorrect in picture manager ,
but using AutoCorrect doesn't remove the blur ; even
changing the contrast/brightness of the blurred pictures
doesn't
help the pictures look better) : May I use other ,
built-in WinXP software (or a trial software like Digital
Imaging) , so I can remove the blur in the blurred
pictures , to get clear pictures ?

Thanks in advance ,
Lior .

The images may look OK on the camera's
LCD screen but the blur was there when you
took the shot. Maybe the focus was not exact
or maybe the camera moved slightly.

Most image editors have tools for sharpening
but if the originals are blurry there's not much
you can do to eliminate it completely.

Maybe the sharpening tools in MS Digital Image
would improve the shots to a degree and you
may find that using a filter would make the
images useful in some artistic way.

There's a trial version of MS Digital Image
if you would like to try it.

Microsoft Digital Image Starter Edition 2006
is a downloadable 60 day trial version with
much of the functionality of MS Digital Image
Suite 2006.

Once your 60 day trial period has ended, the
program will de-feature to minimal functionality.

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and does
not support RAW files.

As I told you...there's not much you can
do with images that are out of focus.

Basic steps for sharp images...
1) Plenty of light...(sunlight when possible).

2) Accurate focus...(try manual focus if
your camera has the option)

3) No camera movement...(use a tripod
or monopod if necessary...especially
when using zoom)

I don't think you can unblur a picture. At least too much.

What I do, if I really like and wnat the picture, is change it into art of
some kind.

Not sure if this is an option for you, where you say you are doing it at
work.

But in effects/filters, there are some that work, like POSTER EDGES. I also
have other plug ins and programs. Kodak Easy Share has free software to
download, it's big and I use other programs for eveything else it does, BUT
it has "fun effects" that include "cartoon" which makes a picture look like
a cartoon. I have used this on pictures that don't look good as a straight
photo for some reason. For example, a little grandson, had his picture
taken with Mickey Mouse in Disney World. The picture wasn't high resolution
and couldn't be made very big (wasn't all that great small, either). I made
it into a cartoon and printed it on cardstock 8X10 and it looks great (under
glass in a frame)

Before I had a good camera, and was using an older, lower pixel one, I
would use art effects on ones I wanted to print or do something big with.

The problem is that the original image is blurred, and you couldn't see
that until you displayed it on a computer.

Try this experiment: shrink the displayed size of the image until
it's only a couple of inches across. Notice how sharp it now appears.

Unfortunately, there is no way to recreate the original information
that was lost when the shot was taken either out of focus or with the
camera moving.

The "sharpening" operations supported by most image processing apps
can help slightly by improving the edge contrast, but missing
information is going to stay missing until you take a sharper picture.
