Removed ATA Drive no Boot on SATA

I had 2 ATA drives which I added a SATA drive, now I removed the ATA drives
and I can't boot to the SATA unless I use a boot floppy. What happened, and
can I fix it?

Change the boot drive sequence in BIOS.

Although you said the SATA drive was working before, as a status check, have you verified the BIOS has the SATA controller enabled?

When the SATA BIOS loads (after the POST) and scans for devices, do you see your hard drive listed? That is, does the SATA BIOS ever detect that there is an attached and functional SATA drive?

Is this a Seagate SATA drive? There appears a growing number of users complaining about the Seagates whereas the Maxtors work okay. However, I believe those users are trying to use the RAID capability whereas you mention only 1 SATA hard disk so you wouldn't be using RAID.

On Asus boards, SATA drives are normally recognized and you don't have to
load special drivers. In the bios however, you need to set the boot sequence
correctly (boot > boot priority).

I have a 120G Seagate SATA as my IPL drive in an ASUS P4B800 with no problem.

You don't mention how you xferred the data to the SATA drive. Coul it be that
the
'Active' or 'Hidden' bits were not set properly during the copy process?
