Removeable media and drive letters

Greetings all...
When I first installed XPPro I found a place where I
could uncheck drive letter assignments. Thinking this
would free up some resources, but instead it has caused
different issues. Now when ever I install a removeable
media device, iPod, CF card reader, XP does not assign the
media a drive letter and they don't show up in the 'my
computer' window. I also installed a second CDROM drive
and it has a drive letter assigned to it, but won't show
up in the 'my computer' window either. This is espicially
frustrating with the iPod bacause I can't download my
music to it.
Can amyone help me find where these check boxes are? I
can't remember where I found them to begin with. But if
it helps I unchecked all the drives from E:\ to Z:\.

hey

just go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.
asp and download tweak ui from power toys. just install
tweak ui and you'll find that boxes that you unchecked.I
think you have to click on my computer in tweak ui but I'm
not sure but I know that you'll be able to find it.

Gil sounds like you need tweakui for xp. It has the
feature you were describing. (checking the boxes for
drive assignments.)
