Remove a menu item from Edit menu?

A

Allen Clark

Is it possible to remove a menu item from the Edit menu? I have a co-worker
that would like to remove the menu item "Mark all as read" from the Edit
menu in Outlook 2000. He recieved many e-mails per day, and every once in a
while, he accidentally hits the "mark all as read" due to a physical
impairment. We would like to be able to remove this from the menu, but I
cannot find a way to remove it. We have tried to customize the menu, but we
cannot remove that item from the menu. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Allen

I've got no problem removing it. How do you remove it? Are you able to
remove other items?

Hi Allen,

You may refer to the steps listed below to remove the item.
On the Tools menu, click Customize.
Make sure the toolbar you want to change is visible.
How?
In the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab.
Select the check box for the toolbar you want to display.
With the Customize dialog box open, drag the menu you want to delete off
the toolbar.
In the Customize dialog box, click Close.
Tip
When you delete a built-in menu, the menu is still in the Customize dialog
box. However, when you delete a custom menu, it is permanently deleted. To
remove a custom menu and save it for later use, create a toolbar for
storing unused menus, move the menu to this storage toolbar, and then hide
the storage toolbar.

Have a nice day!
