Remote Desktop on Port 21 works only in the lan

I have to connect at home (RD server on Windows XP Pro) from my office, so I
have to use an open port in the office firewall.

I have to connect via GPRS from my laptop, also.

If I setup the RD server, let's say, on either port 3111 or port 8080 I can
connect from my laptop/GPRS without any problem.

If I setup the RD server on either port 21 or port 25 (open ports in my
office lan), I can connect my laptop from the local lan, but I cannot
connect from my laptop via GPRS.
I get the following error message:

    Remote Desktop Disconnected
The client could not establish a connection to the remote computer.
    1) Remote connections might not be enabled at the remote computer
    2) The maximum number of connections was exceeded at the remote computer
    3) A network error occurred while establishing the connection

Point 1 is not, because I can connect from the lan where the RD server is
Point 2 should be no sense for RD server on XP Pro, as far as I can see.
Anyway, via GPRS, I always get error on port 21, but I never get error on
    port 3111.
Point 3 may have some meaning if I had any firewall issue.

I have a Kerio firewall at the server and an AtGuard firewall at the client.
I disabled both firewall, but it didn't help.

Furthermore, looking at the Kerio window for "Opened Connections at
    localhost" I can see that:

    - SVCHOST.EXE is listening on port 21 (that looks fine)
    - when I try to connect on port 21 from the laptop/GPRS, a new line is added
displaying that SVCHOST.EXE is connected on port 21 (and the remote address
and local port of my laptop/GPRS are displayed). But this lasts for just a
second or two and then this new opened connection disappears (and the laptop
returns the error I reported above)

So I can't see how it could be a firewall issue (expecially when I disable
both at the client and at the server).

But why does it work fine (on port 21) if I connect from the laptop via lan,
while it fails if I connect from the GPRS? Why laptop/GPRS works fine if I
    connect on port 8080?

Any help will be greately appreciated.

I would also appreciate any suggestion about other ports that may be opened
    at my office firewall.

    Thanks in advance.
