Remote Assistance works one way, but not the other

I have a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop w/ Win XP Pro. Also using AT&T WorldNet
dial-up as ISP (dialing up using Windows Dialup Connections--not using ISP's
software). I can accept an Remote Assistance (RA) invitation from my mother
(I am the "expert" and she is the "person in need of assistance" (for lack
of a better term)), and remote assistance works fine--just incredibly slow
over dial-up on each end. (Her machine is a Dell desktop (model unknown)
newer than my laptop running Win XP Home and dial-up AOL (?version?) as
ISP). Like I was saying, when she invites me things work just fine. But if
I invite her, I apparently doesn't work. As far as what is not working or
what messages she is getting on her end, I don't know (we only tried this
once and it was after working with her for a long time, so she wasn't in the
mood to spend any more time on the computer trying to figure out a new
problem).

Is there any known problems trying to use RA in a situation that a Win XP
Home machine (AOL as the ISP) is the "Expert" machine?

Also, I'm still trying to get this answered: Is it possible to add RA to a
machine with an earlier version of Windows, like Remote Desktop can be?

Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated,

Conan Kelly

Well, without know what's message Expert saw, it's hard to figure out, do
you ever see the pop up asking you to accept connection on your end? RA
only wok on XP not earlier.

Huei,

Thanks for your help. Hopefully you are still monitoring this thread. To
answer your question, No I don't see any messages on my end about someone
trying to connect. And like you said, I don't know what messages are
showing up on the Expert machine

Thanks again,

Yes, I am still looking at this, I will try to see if I can reproduce this
problem, does it work if someone else is the "Expert"?
