remembering windows sizes and positions problem

F

FireBrick

Presently running WinXP Pro with a Matrox Dual Head video card and two
monitors.

Some programs seem to allow a windows position and size to be remembered.
But not all.
In some programs, and even Windows, not all of the windows that open with
right clicks etc. only return to their default size and position.

Even the Matrox utility to remember these does not always work with these.

For instance, The little window that opens when you select 'SAVE AS' always
opens to a certain size.
To be able to select the option to save on another machine on the network,
you have to grab a corner and stretch the window till the Network Places
choice is visible.

Does anyone know of a program or script that will save window position and
sizes, no matter what?????

Please and thank you.

As far as I know the Common Dialogs window (the one that opens when you
click save as, it comes up at other times too) cannot be set to a custom
size. It doesn't remember, nor can you set a custom way to display the
file list that is remembered.

Also Application programs do the remembering for themselves - or don't.
If they don't there is nothing to be done

Thank you Mr. Nichol

I was afraid you would say something like that.
At least I learned the proper term for those type of Windows, "Common
Dialogs".

If you have any pull at MS (and you should <grin>) suggest it for the next
update. :)
