Hi Rob

Yes, you will need to reinstall **all** updates after a Repair install. If you have **all** the relevant Updates on your HD then you will have to re-install them.

I'm not the original poster. Does this mean that the updates have to
be downloaded again, or is there a way to reinstall them from the HD?
(Haven't had this computer long, no need for a Repair install... yet.)

Hi

If you haven't manually downloaded the updates and then saved them to your hard disk/partition - after a Repair Install you will then have to use Windows Update to reinstall **all** updates. Unfortunately, if you use a Repair Install', your XP installation is reverted to the 'original' install - i.e. SP1 will no longer be there, nor will any other updates.

If you have a fast connection - got to the WU page and then click on 'Windows Update Catalog' - from there you can download **all** updates, save them to your HD and then burn them to a CD for later use.
