Registry Editor is immeidately shutting down

I am running a gateway with win xp.Somewhere along the
way the cd autorun feature was turned off in the
registry.Simple fix right? The problem is....anytime I
try to start the windows registry it comes up for about a
second and then shuts down. I have scanned for viruses,
trojans, all with no luck. Any advice?

w32.spybot worm disables NAV, Msconfig, Regedit and Task Manager:

Try this to:

Rename regedit.exe to regedit.com then:

Download then Merge the edit on line 251 then delete all the files mentioned
in the above link.
