Registry changes lost on reboot

E

Erik Gilsdorf

Hello, I'm desperated.

On our Windows 2000 Terminal Server, all IP-printers (with
internal printservers) I install are removed on reboot.
The printers installed before this happenend first are not
affected.

When I looked into the registry I noticed that the TCP/IP-
Ports in
HKLM/System/currentcontrolset/control/print/monitors/ports/
are deleted. If I add this ports manually and restart the
spooler, printers are functioning.

But after reboot, the changes are lost. I tried changing
the security options and deny access to the system for
the "Ports"-Key but these changes are gone with the reboot
too.
Something is writing the registry back?

This sounds a bit familiar. How much searching have you done as it
is possible this issue was addressed in a MS KBA or HotFix. OR, I
could be wrong about that altogether. :) I (sorry) have no time to
search for it (if it exists) right now.

Denying SYSTEM anywhere is never a good idea.

Sorry about having nothing specific and have you also tried in the TS
groups perhaps?
