Redemption requires Outlook to be closed during installation of Outlook addin

We have developed an Outlook 2003 add-in using VSTO 2005. We have gone through several versions/releases of our application. We have been using Redemption all along. When we moved to the next release of Redemption (from 3.x to 4.5) in our installer, our installation was causing problems unless Outlook was closed. The problem I think is that Redemption is trying to add an Outlook extension called "Redemption Helper Outlook Extension" under Outlook addins. Is there a way around this? We want the installation to be fully automated and cannot require users to close Outlook while the installation is running. Any suggestions?
