Recycle Bin icon changes won't stick

I just reformatted my HDD and reinstalled XP Pro. I changed the recycle bin
icon through Customize Desktop, but it keeps reverting back to the big
default ugly XP recycle bin icon. Is there any way to make the changes
permanent?

These are the video drivers that came with XP.

Try using the video drivers that came with XP.

Did you use a MS genuine disk and not visit Windows Update. Current NVidia drivers do this (but not older ones).

Disk was WinXP Pro retail. Video drivers were Windows XP NVidia, which were
updated through Windows Update because I have software which required
DirectX 9.0b and updated video drivers. Do you know the reason why the video
drivers cause desktop changes not to be changed permanently?

I'm having the same trouble with the Recycle bin changed icon not staying
and would be very interested if someone has the answer to this.

I have a clean install of WinXP and downloaded all available up-dates.

Thanks.

Mike
