Recycle Bin Extremely Sluggish

Guest

After returning home, my computer had been shut down for a few days... but since Starting the computer up, the Recycle Bin has been extremely Sluggish. Trying to delete anything from my (D:) drive or my operating system (C:) drive takes about 2 minutes to delete it, rather than instantly as it did a few days ago.

Any ideas on what may be the problem? Is it possible a virus could be hampering it

Thanks
Ryan

Thanks for the info, however, I don't want to modify anything. It has worked flawlessly since I first installed Windows XP in late 2001. I just wanted to know if anyone knew why this might be happening.

I actually tried that suggestion even after I said I wasn't interested... .but the problem still exists.

Hi,

It's corrupted, Kelly's fix rebuilds it.

Hi Ryan,

Start/run cmd, from the prompt run "chkdsk c: /r", then follow the prompts
for it to run when the system is rebooted (you will not be able to dismount
the drive while Windows is running). Make sure the Recycle Bin is empty
before you reboot.
