Recovering "lost" data

I recently messed up my primarly slave hdd a 30gb Maxtor. Not sure how I
did it, probably while using fdisk on the primary master. Anyway, the
drive is supposedly unformatted. But Partitionmagic can make partitions
on it (I made a small one at the end to see if it would work). Disk Edit
shows that my data is intact. Any ideas on how to recover the "lost"
data on "unformatted" part of the disk?
