Recent documents entry in files menu disappeared !

Hi,

WinXPSP1a
Word 2002-XP

In the files menu, the entry for the last used documents has disappeared!
And in the tools->options->general tab dialog, the options "number of recent
documents to display" is greyed out and thus not editable !

Why ?
Any solution ?

Thanks!

Hi,
as complement to my first post the same phenomenon appears in all my office
apps !
Have TwekUIXP installed , but that doesn't have a paranoia tab, contrarily
to earlier versions.
Hope someone has an idea, since it seems to be "system wide"
At the same time I notice that my document folder in start menu also allways
remains empty.

Hi Pivert

Have you used TweakUI or a registry hack to turn off the
recent-documents list in the Windows Start menu? If so, that's the
cause of their disappearance in Word, which uses the same policy
setting in the registry. You'll have to turn them on again in the
Start menu. See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=284896 for details.

Well, in TweakUI-XP I didn't have that option as mentionned in the MS artcle
you mentionned.
I downloaded earlier version, installed, found that option, checkecd it, and
........... voilà ! Done!
Thanks!
Somehow I must have disabled that option somewhere else, but wher I don't
know !
Anyway,
Thanks again !
