Realtime links in powerpoint from excel

Hi Everyone,

What I want to do is have a table in Powerpoint with dropdown boxes
that change the data parameters and thus alter some calculations based
on these data changes.

I can do this in an excel spreadsheet using the data-validation tool.

I can also link an object in Powerpoint to an excel spreadsheet.

However, I have to double click on the object everytime I want to
change the value from the list in the drop down box. Has anyone
achieved what I am trying to do? Is it possible?

Thanks in advance,

The effect can be mimicked in PowerPoint (out-of-the-box), but not the
functionality. Obviously, PowerPoint is a different program than Excel -
with different primary objectives and goals.

Essentially, you can make it look like when you click a button, the data
updates; but PowerPoint would just be linking to another slide, sheet, or
image that looks the same except for the data.

Is the appearance of this functionality worth the effort to build the
various slide, in your case, or do you need the full functionality?

If you NEED the functionality, you can write an add-in that would do what
you seem to want, but that is not an easy row to hoe.

It is also very important to know what version of PowerPoint you are using,
as the variations make differences in the instructions.
