Ready Boost Was Working But Now it Says My Device is too slow???

Ready boost was working using my 2gb usb flash drive, now vista tells me that
my device is too slow. Why has this suddenly changed? Haven't changed any
settings - I just plugged it in the other day and it says my device is too
slow. How can it be fast enough to start with but now its too slow???

Hah! Try setting up Ubuntu with dual monitors...

Or getting Mandrake to sync properly with your Pocket PC! I did eventually
manage it but it was very clunky.

I have spent many a happy hour playing around with different versions of
Mandrake and it is impressive but a very long way from being a polished OS
ready for the average user to run on the most modern hardware.

I find myself quite able to enjoy using Linux without resorting to zealously
attacking MS (or M$ for the edgier types amongst us). It's an OS, not a
religion.

I have seen this happen on USB flash drives before. It usually turns out
that the flash drive is minimally capable for Ready Boost.

Check to make sure that it meets more than just the minimum qualification
for RB. It should meet at least the following. 2.5MB/sec throughput for 4K
random reads and 1.75MB/sec throughput for 512K random writes. See the
documentation that came with the drive or visit the manufacturers website.

been there done that with linux.. linux is not good enough no..

BUT ONLY vista is in the position to do so much harm to so many people !!!

Not even windows Me could do that! The PC market has grown since then...

Linux is ignored by the masses.. Macs work but only a few use them....

NOPE as I said.. Vista is the most horrible OS ever made if you take into
account ALL parameters.

Ronnie - did you use the same slot? For some reason there are different bus
speeds between slots.

Yes, on this particular system, there were only 2 USB slots.

I have been recommending that when a user configures a memory stick for
ReadyBoost, they plug the drive into a slot and leave it there. Making it
permanent seems to avoid all of the problems.
