Re: Statistics: Histo w/trendline

I have no idea what it means to have a histogram with a trendline.

If you just want a line connecting the tops of the columns, plot the
histogram data a second time, select the 2nd series, then select Chart
| Chart Type... | and select Line chart.

Maybe, you meant a cumulative plot of the frequency distribution in the
histogram? If so, and if you are using the Data Analysis ToolPak for
the histogram, there is an 'Cumulative Percentage' option in the dialog
box.

Tushar, thanks for replying. I guess I confused matters by using the
term "trendline." What I want is what Jon Peltier would call a
Combination Chart...a histogram of the frequencies, overlaid with a line
graph of the same frequencies (not the Cumulative %'s). Your description
of how to create a line to connect the tops of the columns is very close
to what I want. But instead of a zigzaggy line connecting points, I want
a nice, gentle curve. Thanks for your suggestions, though. I'll keep
playing with the data and see what I get.

Cheers,

LeAnne

Double click the line chart. In the Patterns tab, select 'Smoothed
Line'.
