is there any known issues with this drive in windows xp

it can read cd even wright cd

but dont dare put a blank DVD in it with out getting a
bunch of hate and discontent back from windows

wich will come to a bloody screaming halt while the
drive tryes to detect the media

if im lucky it wont kill every thing for five minute
while it whaits to give me a error message that the drive
has stoped responding

what could cause this device conflict with hard wear soft

I had the 103 revision of that drive and had a similar problem, except in
reverse - mine would recognise DVDs successfully, but not CDs. I have also
come across another user in these newsgroups who had either the 104 or 105
and had similar problems. In her case I believe it was with DVD recognition,
the same as yourself.

In both cases this was due to a hardware fault with the drives..

Sounds like you might be attempting to use a dvd media that is not
recognized by your dvd burner. not every burner recognizes every brand of
media. the issue you describe is the same as i had when i tried to use
cheap media. try different brands of dvd media and see if you get the same
results. if you do, you may have a bad burner.
