Hi Dpw,

From your description, I understand that you would like to know how could
you find Workgroup Administrator in Access 2003. Have I understood the
issue correctly and completely? If there is anything I misunderstood,
please feel free to let me know.

Based on my understanding, you could startup Workgroup Administrator Dialog
from Access 2002 and 2003 in this way.
1. Start Access by click its icon
2. on Menu Tools -> Security -> Workgroup Administrator
3. Then you can see Workgroup Administrator Dialog like you used to type
"wrkgadm.exe"

Please feel free to post in the group if this solves your problem or if you
would like further help. We are here to be of assistance!

Sincerely yours,

Michael Cheng

I thought by joining the workgroup information file my problem would be solved
It did not

Let me repeat the issue that I'm having
I'm trying to open an .mdw file on Access 2003.
I get this error message
"You do not have the necessary permissions to use the <name> object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)

How do I fix this

I don't have any trouble at all opening this .mdw file on Access 2000
BTW, this .mdw is user & password protected

Thanks

You need to use a copy of the original .mdw used to create the database
(verify this by checking permissions on an object - if owner equals
<unknown> you probably can't use the current one, you can try to change it
to a valid user but....)
then log on as a member of the administrators group

Hi Dpw,

First of all, you said I'm trying to open an .mdw file on Access 2003. Is
mdw is a typo and you are trying to open mdb files?

Assuming it's a correct mdw file, then you could start a secured Access
database named MyApp.mdb in a folder named MyAppFolder with the workgroup
information file used when establishing security on MyApp.mdb, the
command-line syntax must include the /WrkGrp command-line switch, for
example:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.Exe"
"C:\MyAppFolder\MyApp.MDB"
/wrkgrp "C:\MyAppFolder\System.MDW"
you could set it as a shortcut when you opening mdb files.

To identify whether the problem is machine specific, try to open the same
Access database on another computers with Access 2002 installed, do you get
the same error message?

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!

Sincerely yours,
