Re-hibernation

Am trying to set up my AV scan to run during the night unattended. Have set
up a Scheduled task to wake up the computer from hibernation and run the
scan. The computer does wake up and the scan starts. The problem is that
after 5 mins the computer goes back into hibernation and the scan stops. Has
anyone got any ideas how I can stop this?

Go to Power Options, set a longer time before the computer automatically
goes into hibernation depending on how long it takes to do the scan.

You're so smart. Except for one little thing: you didn't test it. It's very easy to test.

Very few people seem to know that, without any actual user input, Windows will re-hibernate five minutes after waking up from hibernation.

You can't change the time--it's always five minutes. You can't turn it off. You can't get around it (according to my Web research and the one Microsoft knowledge base article that describes it). You must hire a person to sit at your computer and move the mouse, or press the Ctrl key, or something to prove to Windows that a human is in charge.

Unbelievable. Thanks again, Microsoft.

End flame.
