I need to find a solution to export part of an excel worksheet (not entire)
to a picture file type (i.e .jpg, .pdf, etc.)

How big a part? If less than one (8.5"x11") page, then Copy Picture
might do what you need. Select the portion you want to export, hold
down Shift, and on the Edit menu, select Copy Picture. You'll be given
options to save the on-screen or printed version, and the format to
use (bitmap is self-explanatory; 'picture' is an Office-specific
vector drawing format, good for pasting into Word or PowerPoint, not
so good for pasting into Photoshop--but don't be afraid to experiment
to see what options work best for you). After copying the image this
way, paste it into the graphics software of your choice, and save as a
jpeg or png or whatever.

Advantage of this method is that you don't need the full version of
Acrobat, and it saves an actual picture, which can be displayed
in-line with text. Most of the time, pdfs can't be displayed that way.
