RDP + Remote Sound

Hello group.

I have a WinXP Pro computer which I what to use for
a "mediadesktop". Its connected to my TV and my stereo
player.

I use a laptop and RDP to administer it. Problem is that
I cant get any sound out of it :( I can bring the sound
to the RDP client, but thats not what I want.

Could anyone please help me out here.

Hi Kenneth,

This is a known bug in XP. As far as I know, they don't plan to fix it until SP2 (see my post above). The only workaround is to start your audio application on the remote computer FIRST while physically at the remote machine. Then you MIGHT be able to make a remote connection and continue to use the audio device. That used to work for me, but for some reason no longer does.

Sad. I just spent the evening building a box as a jukebox, ran into this problem, and now find that there's nothing I can do about it. I got the workaround you mentioned to work, but only once. I wonder when SP2 will come along.

Try changing your Fast User Setting "settings" and see if it helps
(under Control Panel->User Accounts).
