When I hover over some quick Launch balloons I get whole paragraphs of

Hi Dave,

Are you referring to when hovering over the icons in the Quick Launch
toolbar?

I know you meant to say TweakUI. In any case, it is on the list of Power
Toys at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Yes, I was referring to the text one sees hovering over the icons in the
Quick Launch
toolbar? I have the tweak utility in my CP, looks like everybody's right -
mine is titled "TweakUIXP"
But ----------- I don't see how to do it in Tweak either.

I have a Sony CD/DVD burner. There are 4 long lines of text if one is
foolish enough to pass over the icon. Even Word and Excel are each 3.

Any further thoughts???

Thx
Dave

Open TweakUI. In the left pane expand 'Taskbar and Start Menu' and you will
see four checkboxes on the right. The first one is Enable balloon tips.
Uncheck that and see if this also applies to the Quick Launch icons. You
may have to log out and in again or restart, but the tool does not say so.
This may not have the desired effect on the QL items, but this is the
setting the other posters referred to.

Hi Dave,

Right click on each icon in the QL toolbar and select properties.
Look at comments on the shortcut tab and, the text to the right of the
icon at the top on the General tab and edit each to your liking.

Hi Colin,

The icon comments in QL toolbar are not considered balloons. The
balloon setting in Tweakui will have no effect on the comments.
